So I had to put Intersections 1 into dry dock – a glitch with the photo. I will republish it at the end of this series of 7. For those of you who have already liked and commented on #1, thank you, however; you should know that my reflection in the poster was not intended – check out its resurrection later.
The Intersections exhibition official write -up is below and explains my series, so I don’t have to…
Hollywood & Vine. Haight & Ashbury. Portage & Main. Davie & Denman. Great cities are composed of great intersections. Recognizable outside of their city limits, these intersections play host to significant historical events, define the culture of a place, and are the meeting point for diverse groups of people.
Launched February 2013 at Waterfront Station, Intersections celebrates the unique attributes of seven essential cross-streets throughout Vancouver through graphic design.
For this exhibition seven local designers were invited to respond to a specified Vancouver intersection. Drawing from history, geography, architecture, observation and folklore, each resulted in a design that addresses the unique character of place.
Intersections is conceived and curated by the Platform Gallery. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Canada Line Public Art Program, with support from numerous community sponsors and some of Vancouver’s best design talent.
Intersections 2 presents a much loved, beach side Vancouver street intersection in graphic form – the description is below it:

‘The 100′ series was initiated by my 100th Post in April 2012. As text and images are the essence of my blog I will post 100 pieces of textual art from historical and contemporary artists and from my own hand. To view the series to date click on ‘The 100’ in my Category Menu.

You live in an interesting city! Palm trees… A nice idea to give art a chance in the streets.
Hi Ina – sorry I couldn’t reply to your comment on #1 – explained in #2. They are not butterflies but pigeons in flight – numerous at this intersection.
Pigeons!
I need my eyes checked!
All perceptions are valid Ina – all is flying and accepted…
A little island of colour indeed…beautifully said and I can imagine it being that way – bright and uplifting. With a bit of everything in it – ocean, sand, definitely fireworks as well…
This is indeed a gorgeous corner of Vancouver -a gem of life and a place to visit to uplift the grey spirit…thanks for saying…
